Hi {contactfield=firstname},
From My Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network and our new Healthy Life Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
Hello and welcome to the Healthy Life Network.
What a week it has been.
Genuine connection, exciting progress across all three businesses, and a few personal firsts. There is a lot to share, so let’s get into it.
Family and Personal
I started the week with a forty-eight-hour fast on Sunday and Monday. The science around extended fasting and its potential to stress and clear abnormal cells is genuinely compelling, and it is something I find valuable both personally and professionally. More on that topic in a future podcast.
Wednesday is my protected evening. Every week it is either a date night with Chelle or a catch-up with a family member or close friend. This week it was dinner with Dad, and I cannot overstate how much I value those evenings. It is so important to remain connected.
Friday night was a breathwork session with Jen, and I was her helper, a great experience for me but mainly for the attendees. More on that below.
Saturday I got back in the pool for the first time in several months. It was humbling. Fitness disappears faster than we like to admit. But I am back, and once a week from here.
This Sunday is part of a long weekend, and we are hoping to catch up with friends and get out for a walk... either around the Waterworks Reserve or up the mountain. Again, valuable connection, with a bit of exercise, what more could you want?
Max is currently on a dive boat on the Great Barrier Reef for around nine days with his partner Katie. When he is not diving, he has been working as a concreter, which he is genuinely enjoying. Physical work, new skills, and a different kind of satisfaction. I’m so happy to see him doing “good stuff”.
Ella has just finished her uni exams for the semester. She has had mixed emotions about a few of them... some went well, others not quite as hoped. That is the honest reality of exam season, and she is handling it with good grace...she certainly did the work, and the year is not over, so we will watch and see.
Sean has been doing a remarkable job across both businesses. More on his contribution below. And Chelle has been working incredibly hard as we push through a busy period of growth and transition. Sean has been quietly stepping up to support her on the backend too, which has been really good to see.
Chelle’s dad, Pete, has remained well. He recently celebrated his eightieth birthday, and he still very much enjoys the mischievous company of his dog Jimmy.
Business Updates
Our Better Bones, Greater Strength, and Improved Balance Centre : OsteoStrong™ Hobart
A big week on several fronts.
On Monday we ran a presentation at St Luke’s Hospital, and it was genuinely well attended with strong interest from those in the room. The opportunity to introduce our centre to a clinical setting and have those conversations is always encouraging.
Chris, our new marketing/salesperson, is joining us any day now. We are very excited about what Chris brings and the difference that dedicated local area marketing and sales will make.
We are also seeing a really encouraging uptick in leads from our new marketing provider, which is building momentum ahead of what we believe will be an important few months.
And perhaps most excitingly... we are on the absolute cusp of launching Bone Buddies.
Bone Buddies is a new partnership membership designed for people who train together. Paired attendance at specific session times allows us to offer a significantly reduced price, making our service accessible to people who have previously found the cost to be a barrier.
If you or someone you know has been interested but held back by cost, Bone Buddies may be exactly the answer. Simply reply to this email and we will be in touch with the details.
Longevity Labs IV
An extraordinary week upstairs.
Friday night’s breathwork session, led by Jen through Breath Labs x Pivotal Wellbeing, was held right here in the Longevity Labs space. Around a dozen people attended... and for many of them, it was their first experience of anything like it. Jen used headphones to deliver a guided, entrained breathwork and meditation session, and the impact on many of those in the room was palpable. Several people were genuinely moved. It was a privilege to be involved.
We have finalised the orders for our VO2 Max testing and training equipment. This is a significant step. If you missed last week’s podcast on VO2 Max as a marker of longevity, it is well worth a listen. The link is just below.
We have also secured a HOCATT for southern Tasmania. We will be the only HOCATT centre in the region. For those unfamiliar, the HOCATT combines heat, steam, infrared, PEMF, ozone, oxygen, and more... essentially a whole day at a spa compressed into a thirty minute session. It is being packed and shipped from the US and will arrive in the next month or two. We will be sharing more details very soon as we begin to let people know what is coming.
And on top of that... we have secured an oxygen nanobubble spa. Again, the only one in Tasmania. The science behind this technology is fascinating enough that I plan to dedicate an entire podcast to it rather than try to do it justice in a few lines here. Watch this space.
Sean has also been doing a brilliant job fitting out the Longevity Labs space with Dark Mofo inspired decor, and we have put together some fantastic packages combining IV therapy and breathwork during the Dark Mofo event period. We are genuinely excited about the response.
We have also been incredibly grateful for the support of Corbin Halliday, founder of Three Warriors Skin Products and one of Hobart’s genuinely generous and open-spirited people. Corbin and I spent several hours together recently while both enjoying our IV therapy, and the conversations that unfolded were connected on a really positive vibration. He has been sharing what we do and helping us reach people we might not otherwise reach. I am deeply grateful.
Podcast This Week
This week on the podcast... EP441: I Know VO2, But What’s Lactate?
Following last week’s deep dive into VO2 Max, this episode takes the next step and explores lactate as a performance and longevity marker. What it is, what it tells us, and why it matters for how long and how well you live.

Quiz Corner
Last Week’s Answer
The question was: What does Coenzyme Q10 primarily support in the body?
The answer is mitochondrial function and cellular energy production. CoQ10 plays a central role in the electron transport chain, helping cells generate ATP efficiently. It also acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting cells from oxidative stress. It is worth noting that statin medications can theoretically reduce CoQ10 levels, which is one reason supplementation is sometimes considered for people on long term statin therapy.
This Week’s Question
B group vitamins are often talked about in the context of energy and brain health. But what are the four most important things that B group vitamins may be beneficial for?
Answer in next week’s newsletter.
Final Reflection
A Friday night breathwork session. A Wednesday dinner with Dad. A Saturday morning back in the pool.
None of those are extraordinary on their own. But together, across a single week, they add up to something that matters.
Connection. Movement. Intention.
VO2 Max, HOCATT, O2 Nanobubbles all on the way to Longevity Labs — very exciting.
There is gratitude in every week, it just depends how you look at it.
Warm regards,
