Hi {contactfield=firstname},
From My Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network and our new Healthy Life Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
Hello and welcome
It's been a week of arrivals, departures, and a few plans turned on their head. Some big pieces of equipment are finally on their way to us, one of our own has been free diving on the Great Barrier Reef, and a Sydney trip has quietly changed shape. There's also a personal milestone in this one I'm pretty pleased about, and some exciting news for OsteoStrong™ Hobart. Read on for all of it.
Family & Personal Highlights
Max has had an incredible time on a boat on the Great Barrier Reef with Katie, helping with dive trips. Better still, the two of them got in the water themselves, including some free diving and spearfishing.
Ella has finished her exams. A relief for everyone, not just her. On top of that, she's been doing a great job supporting our social media marketing. She's now turning her attention to something much more exciting, a trip around Australia with her partner, Tallam, in the next month or two. A big adventure for two young people, and one we're looking forward to hearing about.
Chelle has been flat out. Working across OsteoStrong™ Hobart and upstairs in Longevity Labs, she was central to getting the room ready for our Dark Mofo breathwork session, which was spectacular. If you haven't seen it, take a look here: Longevity Labs Breathwork – Facebook
Sean continues to bring fantastic energy to the team, supporting members across both OsteoStrong™ and Longevity Labs, and signing up new members along the way.
On my own front, I've had two NAD+ infusions this past week, and I'm back in the pool. One week ago I managed 250 metres. Yesterday, a slow 1 kilometre, 4 x 250 metres in a 25m pool. Given how much time I'd had off exercise, that's a genuinely encouraging sign.
And a lovely weekend on the home front. Dinner with friends on Saturday night, and a farewell for a departing staff member on Saturday afternoon.
Professional & Business Updates
OsteoStrong™ Hobart Big news. Bone Buddies launches this week. We've worked hard to remove the financial barrier to entry, making it easier for more people to access the strength, balance, and bone benefits of OsteoStrong™. If you've been curious but holding back, now's the time to ask us about it.
We've also welcomed Chris to the team, joining us part-time in a dedicated marketing and sales role. With a background in teaching and Pilates, she's going to be a great fit as we work to get the word out so more people can benefit from what we offer.
We also had a visit from Talita, an exercise physiologist from MS Plus (Multiple Sclerosis Plus). She checked out our setup, and loved what we're doing here.
Longevity Labs IV The invoice for the HOCATT unit arrived today. It will take six to eight weeks to reach us, the first of its kind in Hobart. In the meantime, we'll get the space ready and open up pre-bookings so people can secure their spot early.
We're also progressing the oxygen nanobubble spa, for athlete recovery and for anyone dealing with aches and pains who might benefit.
Our VO2 Max testing equipment has arrived, along with the assault bike and stationary bike, both on their way to us now.
Breath Lab Last night's breathwork session, part of Dark Mofo, sold out. A great sign for where breathwork can take us, and more importantly, for what it can do for people.
Healthy Life Network / Younger Longer A great Zoom call this week with Guy Leech and others involved in a new supplement called Next50, launching soon. I'm trialling it myself, a chocolate-based scoop and shake formula designed to bring multiple ingredients together and cut down on the number of pills most of us end up taking. More on this as it develops.
I'd been planning to head to Sydney next week for a wellness conference and a catch up with Guy on Younger Longer. Plans have shifted. I'll instead be spending time with my brother, and sitting down with John North to map out the next steps for the Healthy Life Network.
I also had a fascinating meeting this week with Talius, a provider of home sensing devices supported by AI interpretation and working in an agnostic way across systems, a division of St Luke's Health. The conversation was about how this kind of technology will move into ongoing healthcare. I'm excited to be part of that discussion.

Also recorded this week, a conversation with Claire Meyer, CEO and President of Parkinson's Tasmania. That episode isn't out yet, but I'm looking forward to sharing it when it lands. We may well follow it up with another episode featuring Dad, sharing his own lived experience of Parkinson's disease.

Last Week's Answer
The question was: what are the four most important things B group vitamins may be beneficial for?
The answer is energy production, nervous system and brain function, red blood cell formation, and cardiovascular and immune health. B vitamins help convert the food we eat into usable energy, support nerve signalling and cognition, are essential for healthy red blood cells, and play a role in keeping the heart and immune system functioning well.
This Week's Question
When it comes to joint pain, two supplements come up again and again in the research. Can you name them?
Answer in next week's newsletter.
Final Reflection
A boy free diving on the Reef. A daughter closing one chapter and opening another. A partner pouring herself into two businesses at once. A son growing into his role and bringing others along with him. And a father back in the pool, one slow kilometre at a time.
Different scales, same thread. People moving forward, in their own way, in their own time.
That's worth noticing.
Warm regards,
