Hi {contactfield=firstname},
From My Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network and our new Healthy Life Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
Hello and welcome to the Healthy Life Network.
It's been one of those weeks where a lot of good things are moving at once.
Different conversations, different opportunities — but a clear thread running through all of them. Good to be home. More below.
Family & Personal
Chelle and I are back from Melbourne, and it does feel right. Living out of suitcases has its limits.
It was lovely to arrive home and have Dad and Ann pop around to see us. Simple moments — but the ones that stay with you.
Max is in town with Katie, which is always good. And I'm looking forward to getting back into the clinic at the end of the week ahead. The break has been important — medically necessary, and genuinely useful. But I'm starting to feel better and better, and the pull back to work is real.
Business Updates
OsteoStrong Hobart
A highlight this week was a Zoom call with Paul — one of our coaches at OsteoStrong — and Sean. Paul has a deep background in fitness and a particular passion for VO2 Max, one of the strongest predictors of longevity we have. We had a genuinely exciting conversation about what it might look like to bring VO2 Max testing and training into our Longevity Labs offering. Early days — but it feels like a natural fit.
While we were in Melbourne, I also had the chance to connect with Perry, the master franchisee of OsteoStrong Australia. Some exciting conversations about the road ahead and how we can work together to bring this service to more people who need it. More to come on that.
Longevity Labs IV
The energy upstairs has been fantastic. Sean, Sarah, and Ella have been driving some really strong local area marketing and social media engagement — and the interest has followed. It's the kind of momentum that builds something real.
We're also very excited to be offering a Longevity Labs experience as a complement to Dark Mofo this year. If you're in Hobart for the festival, keep an eye out. This is going to be something quite special.
Breath Lab
We're thrilled to be working closely with Jen to bring Breath Lab's Pivotal Wellbeing sessions into full swing. We're putting sessions in place specifically designed to help people with anxiety, sleep, and finding a genuine sense of peace and calm. This is shaping up to be a beautiful space — and the early signs are really encouraging. If this sounds like something you or someone you know needs, stay close.
Younger Longer — with Guy Leech
Many of you will know Guy Leech — legendary Australian Ironman champion and now becoming one of the country's most recognised voices on longevity and healthy ageing.
Guy launched Younger Longer — a longevity-focused platform designed to help Australians take control of their wellbeing and extend their quality of life — and I've become part of it as an expert contributor.
This week, Channel 7 picked up the story. It's a great vehicle for bringing the message of proactive, preventive health to a much broader audience.

This Week's Podcast — EP437
🎙️ EP437: The Power of Mitochondria Listen here →
Mitochondria are the tiny energy-producing structures inside almost every cell in your body. They're central to how you feel, how you age, and how well your body performs day to day.
In this episode I explore why mitochondrial health matters so much as we get older, what happens when it starts to decline, and what the evidence says about supporting it. It connects naturally to so much of what we do across OsteoStrong, Longevity Labs, and Breath Lab.
Available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and all major platforms.

Quiz Corner
Last week's answer:
The question was: Name three things that have been clinically proven to improve longevity.
There are several strong candidates — but the three most consistently supported by evidence are:
Regular physical activity — particularly resistance and aerobic exercise, which improves cardiovascular health, muscle mass, metabolic function, and — as this week's podcast touches on — mitochondrial health.
Not smoking — one of the single largest modifiable risk factors for premature death across multiple disease categories.
Strong social connection — consistently shown in longitudinal studies to be as impactful on lifespan as physical health behaviours. Isolation is a genuine health risk.
Honourable mentions: sleep quality, dietary pattern, and — increasingly supported by the evidence — VO2 Max.
This week's question:
What are the three to five most significant risk factors for Alzheimer's disease?
Have a think. I'll share the answers next week.
Final Reflection
There's a lot of momentum right now. New conversations. New offerings. Good things taking shape.
But the moment that stays with me this week is simpler — Dad and Ann at the door when we got home. Max and Katie in town. Chelle beside me.
Everything else is built on that foundation.
Warm regards,
