From My Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network and our new Healthy Life Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
Hello and welcome to this week's Healthy Life Network.
A quieter week for me personally, but a genuinely big one for the businesses. Sometimes those two things happen at once, and you just have to let them.
Family & Personal Highlights
I've been a little unwell this week. A chest cold, a course of antibiotics, and a gradual climb back to normal. Nothing serious, just a reminder that energy has to be managed, not assumed.
On the home front, we had a look at a beautiful property just around the corner, one some friends are looking to sell. Lovely place, but probably not quite the right fit for us right now. We also had a planning expert through to look at what we could do with the back of our own place. The early suggestion is converting the garage into a small granny flat. Nothing decided, but watch this space.
Chelle and I are also looking at tickets for Tony Robbins' Date With Destiny in Miami this December. We went last year, and it was life changing. We're going again.
I also caught up with a good friend, Twee Shaw, this week. Twee is a strong advocate for resilience and comes from a background in event management. We got talking about creating a Longevity on Fire summer summit later this year. Early days, but we've already got some genuinely interesting material taking shape, particularly for people wanting to get more out of their own wellness journey. More on this as it develops.
Professional & Business Updates
OsteoStrong™ Hobart
The team keeps growing, and the energy downstairs has been fantastic. Sean continues to do a tremendous job across both OsteoStrong™ and Longevity Lab, and Chelle has genuinely been everywhere this week, downstairs, upstairs, and at the units.
Longevity Lab
A big week here. The VO2 Max bikes have arrived and testing and training are now underway. We also had a visit from Matt Osborne, a well-known local biohacker, who spent time in the centre and was genuinely excited about what we're building.
We're proud to be part of the Hype Gym fundraiser this coming weekend, the 11th and 12th, raising funds toward cancer research. Corbin Halliday helped bring this partnership together, and the Hype Gym team have been fantastic to work alongside.
The HOCATT unit is now fully paid for and on its way. This is technology southern Tasmania hasn't seen before, and we'll be opening expressions of interest for booking spots ahead of arrival. If you're curious what it actually does, have a look here: hocatt.com — booking links to come soon.
We also met with Robbie Brammell, in branding and marketing and husband of Bec, one of our OsteoStrong™ coaches. He has mapped out a full rebrand: Longevity Labs IV and the VO2 Max offering coming together under one name, Longevity Lab. New colours, new direction, and we'll be working with a new marketing team on the rollout in the coming days.
Breath Lab
We've now locked in the equipment for heart rate variability monitoring, an earlobe sensor linking directly to a phone app, from a company called HeartMath. We expect to lead Hobart, and Tasmania, in this space, and we're looking forward to building this into a genuine support offering for GPs, psychologists and psychiatrists whose patients could benefit.
Podcast/YouTube Highlight
EP445: PD — What You Need To Know, with Claire Myers
In this week's episode I sat down with Claire Myers, Chair and President of Parkinson's Disease Tasmania. It's a topic close to home. My own dad lives with Parkinson's, and Claire's father did too, so this conversation carries some real, lived understanding on both sides. We talk through what Parkinson's actually looks like day to day, the non-motor symptoms that often go unrecognised, and why staying strong and connected matters so much through the journey.

Final Reflection
A quieter week reminds you that the body sets its own pace, whether you plan for it or not. The businesses moved forward regardless, because the people around me carried it. That's the real measure of a team, not what happens when everything is easy, but what happens when you have to step back for a moment.
Warm regards,
