Hi {contactfield=firstname},
From My Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network and our new Healthy Life Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
Hello & welcome,
Some weeks feel busy.
Others quietly reassure you that you’re moving in the right direction.
This past week felt like one of those — steady progress, meaningful conversations, and good things taking shape across family, health, and work.
Family & Personal Reflections
It was a pleasure to spend time with family again this week. I’ve been in touch with all the kids — Max, Ella, and Sean — and we’re now actively planning a family trip to Samoa to spend time with Max and see how he’s been living. The conversations with the travel agent have begun, and we’re genuinely excited about the time together.
Chelle and I also made space for Valentine's Day. We stayed in, ordered takeaway, opened a nice bottle of wine, and looked back through our wedding photos projected onto the TV. Simple, relaxed, and a reminder of how important it is to keep choosing each other, even in busy seasons.
We did venture out another evening as well, for date night............... not a venue we’ll rush back to, but once again, the real value was the time together.
Next week I’m also looking forward to catching up one-on-one with Ella, venue still to be decided, but very much looking forward to that time together.
Health, Learning & Perspective
I finally had the chance to go in for an eye test this week and have ordered some new glasses — something I’m quietly excited about, particularly for reading and screen work.
I also hosted the very first Healthy Life Network live session on Tuesday night, focused on healthy ageing and the musculoskeletal system. It was genuinely energising to kick this off and to see people engaging with the ideas around strength, bone health, mobility, and independence as foundations for ageing well.
During the week, I also welcomed representatives from the Cancer Council of Tasmania to the OsteoStrong centre. It was a meaningful visit, and they could clearly see the potential benefits our approach offers for people on a cancer journey — particularly around maintaining bone integrity and muscle strength.
I’ve been listening to Bob Proctor’s Change Your Paradigm, Change Your Life — a timely reminder of how much of progress comes back to thinking patterns, repetition, and momentum.
OsteoStrong, Longevity Labs & What’s Building
At OsteoStrong, the team and I continue to see encouraging momentum, with new members joining and a growing focus not just on bone density, but on strength, balance, confidence, and independence.
Upstairs at Longevity Labs, we’re excited to now have a movement and stretch class running to further support OsteoStrong members. We’re also preparing to introduce breathwork sessions, run by Jen who is an absolute delight, recognising how critical nervous system regulation, stress resilience, and recovery are to long-term health.
Behind the scenes, Cholesterol Explained has reached a major milestone. I’ve now received the final draft including the index — a huge credit to Penny, who has brought incredible care, persistence, and generosity to this project. I’ll be giving it one last careful read before it heads to John in Sydney for production across e-book, audiobook, print, and online platforms....... I won't be mentioning here again until it is available "in a store near you"....

Quiz Answer – Last Week
IV Glutathione & Vitamin C: When Might They Be Helpful?
IV glutathione and vitamin C are most commonly used to support the body during periods of increased physiological stress. Situations where they may be beneficial include:
-
High oxidative stress
For example, chronic illness, environmental toxin exposure, or high inflammatory states, this could include chemotherapy and radiation.
-
Immune system support
During or after viral illnesses, frequent infections, or periods of immune suppression.
-
Fatigue and recovery
Including post-illness fatigue, high work or training loads, or recovery after significant stress.
-
Detoxification support
Glutathione plays a central role in the liver’s detoxification pathways.
-
Chronic illness or high stress loads
Where antioxidant demand exceeds the body’s usual capacity.
As always, these therapies are adjunctive, not standalone treatments, and are best considered within a broader, individualised health plan.
Quiz Corner – Week #72
This week’s question:
What are the five most common lung conditions, and what are some of the typical triggers?
Think about:
-
Environmental exposures
-
Smoking and vaping
-
Infections
-
Occupational risks
-
Inflammation and allergy
We’ll unpack the answer next week.
