Hi {contactfield=firstname}

From My Desk...

Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.

Another week has flown by, and once again, there’s plenty to share — both professionally and personally!

Podcasthon & Interviewing Adam Weir

This week, I had the fantastic opportunity to interview Adam Weir, CEO of Surf Life Saving Australia, as part of Podcasthon 2025. For those unfamiliar, Podcasthon is a global event bringing together thousands of podcasters to release special episodes during the same week (March 15–21, 2025), all in support of charitable causes.

My conversation with Adam covered some incredible insights into surf lifesaving, community health, and how we can all play a part in keeping Australians safe in and around the water. I’ll let you know exactly when it goes live!

Business Podcasts & Thoughtful Conversations

In addition to Podcasthon, I was also lucky enough to be a guest on podcasts hosted by Arthur Kallos and Kylie Denton, both respected business leaders in their own right. Our chats ranged from health, leadership, and resilience to finding balance in life... as you might guess, I really focused on gettign a heart scan to be most precise about your heart health...you can learn more here: virtualheartcheck.com.au . I’ll share links to those episodes once they’re published — lots of valuable discussions to tune into.

Partnering with Hearts4heart

I also had a productive and inspiring meeting with Tanya Hall, the founder and CEO of Hearts4heart, an organisation dedicated to supporting Australians living with heart conditions. Tanya’s work, driven by her personal experience with heart disease, has made a significant impact in raising awareness and providing practical support to patients.

Our conversation focused on finding ways to get my book, Atrial Fibrillation Explained, into the hands of people who would benefit from it most — while also supporting the important work that Hearts4heart does. I’m excited to see where this collaboration leads!

Chelle’s Busy Week — OsteoStrong & Home Sweet Home

On the home front, Chelle has had her hands full — between managing our OsteoStrong wellness centre and getting our new home move-in ready, it’s been non-stop. This week, the TV arrived, up next week, the washing machine, fridge, and wine cabinet were all installed, and there’s still plenty of unpacking and organising left to do. Slowly but surely, it’s coming together! I have started to play around with my new coffee machine, but not got that bedded down yet.

Max in Tonga & Unexpected GAMSAT Surprise

In a surprising twist, Max, who’s currently in Tonga, sat the first part of the GAMSAT — the entrance exam for medical school! He seemed to forget to mention to me that was coming up. He’s also finalising the finer details of his DFAT scholarship, so plenty happening for him on all fronts.

Ella’s New Uni Life & Running the Bridge

Meanwhile, Ella has officially started her studies in psychology at uni and, never one to sit still, she also took part in the local Bridge Run today. Great to see her staying active and engaged right from the start.

Catching Up with Dad

We had dinner with Dad this week and I have to say — he’s looking the best he has in years. A recent change to his Parkinson’s medication has really made a difference, which is wonderful to see.
