Hi {contactfield=firstname}
From My Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
Another week has flown by!
Reflections on the St Luke’s Health Pilot
On Thursday, I had the chance to catch up with St Luke’s Health to reflect on our 100-person pilot study. While there’s still plenty of work to do, we’ve decided that the outcomes justify continuing to explore how best to deliver calcium scoring to more members. This remains a work in progress, but it’s an exciting step forward.
Valentine’s Day Scramble
Valentine’s Day came and went quietly at home—mainly because I didn’t realize until Monday or Tuesday that it was upon us!
By the time I tried to book a restaurant, everything was full.
So, my plans to take Chelle out for dinner had to be rescheduled!
She did, however, receive flowers and a card, and Sunday we went out for a movie, the new Captain America flick and then headed out for dinner at our local (The Winston) for a burger and beer. Better late than never!
Attending the Tasmanian Cardiac Society Meeting
I attended the Tasmanian chapter of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand’s scientific meeting in Hobart this week. It was an excellent event, and I had the pleasure of sharing a table with Mayanna Lund, the society’s president.
We heard fantastic presentations, including:
- Obesity & Heart Failure – The latest insights on how excess weight impacts cardiac function.
- Innovative Surgical Procedures – Including swapping the pulmonary valve into the aortic valve position.
- Case Studies – Covering ventricular tachycardia, complete heart block, and complex management strategies.
- Aortic Surgery – Updates on when, why, and how we should intervene.
- Blood Pressure – A topic I never miss a chance to talk about!
- Artificial Intelligence in Cardiology – Exploring how AI can enhance diagnosis, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
I also had the opportunity to present our findings from the St. Luke’s Health pilot study, and I was pleased with how well it was received by the audience.
Exciting Progress on New Health Projects
I’m currently finalizing the bone scanning section of the Virtual Health Check platform I’ve been developing. It's not quite ready yet, but not far away, I'll keep you posted.
Meanwhile, I’m beginning work on a 28-day program that will be part of Guy Leech’s Younger Longer offering—stay tuned for updates!
Cholesterol Book & Positive Feedback on Past Work
Last weekend was heavily focused on cholesterol as Penny and I worked through edits, diagrams, and content for our upcoming book, Cholesterol Explained. It’s a complex topic, but we’re excited to bring it to life in a way that’s both informative and accessible.
On a side note, I’ve received some really nice feedback recently on my other books:
- Cardiac Failure Explained
- Atrial Fibrillation Explained
- The 10 Commandments of Heart Health
It’s always rewarding to hear that the work we put in is helping people, each book resonating with different readers for different reasons. If you haven’t checked them out yet, you can find them here. Dr Warrick's books
C15 – A Fascinating Fatty Acid for Longevity
One of the most interesting supplements I’ve come across lately is C15:0, an essential fatty acid with emerging research supporting its anti-inflammatory and longevity benefits.
This molecule was originally studied in Navy dolphins, but human studies are showing that it plays a role in cellular health and metabolic function.
💡 Chelle and I have started taking it, and if you’d like to try it, you can get more details here:

Family Updates
- Chelle is busy getting our new house set up—painters are done, flooring is being attended Tuesday, and we’re sorting out furniture and other finishing touches.
- Ella is in Melbourne at yet another music festival, and since I haven’t heard from her, I’ll assume she’s having a great time!
- Max is spending his final days in Australia in Far North Queensland before heading off to Tonga.
Wishing You a Great Week Ahead!
As always, I hope you’re taking steps to live as well as possible for as long as possible.
