Hi {contactfield=firstname}
From My Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
Wow,
There’s no question about it—the world seems to spin faster as we approach the end of the year and Christmas.
This past week has been absolutely amazing for me, and I wanted to share some highlights with you.
I celebrated my 60th birthday, and as part of those celebrations, I tied the knot with Chelle, my partner of over five years, who is now my wife.
We had a very small and intimate ceremony. My dad was there, along with my mum’s ashes. Chelle’s dad was there too, and we also had her mum’s ashes. Even the ashes of my best mate, Dave, who passed away about 20 years ago, were part of the day. I know, the ashes thing might sound unusual, but it was incredibly important to us to honor and remember the people who have played such a significant role in our lives.
My brother flew in a couple of days early, joined by his wife, Magda. Chelle’s best friend Kylie was there, as was my lifelong best friend, Dave, who has been in my life since grade 6.
All our kids were there too. Chelle’s son, Sean, was as relaxed and happy as I’ve seen him in years. He’s overcome some recent challenges, and it’s great to see him looking ahead with a path cleared of some of life's obstacles.
My kids, Max and Ella, were there as well—though calling them “kids” is a bit of a stretch since they’re both young adults. Max flew in on the morning of the wedding and was in charge of the photos. We haven’t seen them yet, but with two cameras swinging around his neck, I’m sure he’s captured some spectacular shots!
Ella sang “On the Day That You Were Born” by The Carpenters during the ceremony. There wasn’t a dry eye. She held it together incredibly well, singing beautifully without a hint of an emotional wobble in her voice.
And then, of course, there was Chelle. She looked absolutely stunning—she truly was the epitome of a beaming bride. She put so much care and attention into every detail of the day, and because of that, it was just perfect.
Even the catering was amazing. Seasoned & Fire, our caterers, delivered a fantastic meal. The service was outstanding, and they were so respectful of our needs as a family. Both my dad and my brother shared some heartfelt words as we tucked into a beautiful meal after the ceremony.
The next day, Chelle and I finally settled on our new house. This means we can officially end our journey of looking at properties all over town, close the realestate.com website for good, and start shifting our final bits and pieces from Clifton and North Hobart into our new home in Sandy Bay.
I’d love to give you a proper medical update, but honestly, it’s taken a bit of a backseat this past week! That said, I did have a fantastic interview with Dr. Har Hari, who’s based in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. He’s trained as a chiropractor and takes a truly holistic approach, incorporating pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, directed magnetic therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and red light therapy into his practice. Keep an eye out for the podcast or video—I think you’ll find it super interesting!
For now, I need to crack on. It’s been such a busy few days, and it’s time to regroup and get organized with all the loose ends we’ve created.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read this.
Till next time, I wish you the very best and hope you live as well as possible for as long as possible.
Take care and bye for now,
