Hi {contactfield=firstname}
From My Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
Greetings, and I hope you’re well.
I’m sure your week has been busy, especially with Christmas fast approaching. Things are certainly ramping up for us at home too.
Big news at the top of the list:
Chelle and I are getting married this weekend, and we’ll also be celebrating my 60th birthday at the same time! It will be an intimate gathering with only first-degree relatives and one close friend each. On the table, we’ll also have the ashes of my mum, Chelle’s mum, and my best mate Dave, who passed away about 20 years ago. This isn’t to sound morbid, but rather to acknowledge their special place in our lives and to feel their presence as they look down and wish us happiness for the future.
Today is my son’s 21st birthday!
We had a chat over the phone earlier, and he’ll be joining us for the weekend’s celebrations. We’ll also make sure to mark his milestone birthday properly. He doesn’t know it yet, but I’ve bought him a pair of RM Williams boots—something I hope he’ll treasure for years to come, as they’re built to last a lifetime. It seemed like a fitting 21st birthday gift.
It’s been a busy time in other areas too.
At the OsteoStrong center, we had a week of organized chaos. Our PEMF mats weren’t working, the program that communicates with our equipment had a glitch, and our core GT Spectrum machine decided to throw a tantrum, needing a new controller box. In the process of fixing it, I even managed to crack the interface screen! Thankfully, all of that is now resolved, and it definitely warranted a glass of wine at the end of a couple of those days.
Chelle has been exploring a product called “PHIX.”
This is a mature hope extract that reportedly affects brown fat metabolism, and is an aid for weight loss and weight conrol. Someone who follows these emails reached out with more information, which was very helpful. We’re still figuring out whether the product lives up to its claims. Chelle is currently trying it herself, and if you’re curious to know more, feel free to email me via this newsletter, and I’ll connect you with her.
On a professional note, I’ve nearly completed my continuing professional development points for the year. I spent several hours with Dr. Tom Butler, a cardiologist on the Gold Coast, reviewing practice material. It’s a bit of an arduous task, but a necessary one.
In other exciting news, we’ve received our first shipment of portable PEMF mats! These mats are designed for short-term hire, primarily to support recovery from orthopedic surgeries such as hip or knee replacements. I’m genuinely excited about the potential to help individuals on their health journeys with this new service.
Last Friday, Chelle and I had an incredible experience with Dr. Russell Cooper, an integrative medicine practitioner. We had DNA panels done, and Russ spent hours walking us through our biological blueprints, explaining how we can optimize our health based on our genetics. It was fascinating and insightful. If you’d like to learn more about this, just reach out directly.
On the home front, Chelle and I are still exploring properties as we plan for the future. It’s an exciting process, but with everything else going on, it’s also a bit exhausting.
Ella is doing well and staying busy, working shifts at several coffee shops. One of them is just around the corner, so Chelle and I caught up with her this morning before her shift, which was lovely. She’s still living with my dad, who, despite being significantly affected by Parkinson’s, continues to maintain his independence.
Wrapping up the week, I recently recorded interviews with Dr. Alan Rosinski, a professor of medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He is an absolute inspiration, with extensive research and clinical expertise. We had an incredible conversation about preventative cardiology and patient care.
For now, I’ll sign off. I just had a haircut to get ready for the weekend, need to head down to the OsteoStrong center, look at a house, and hopefully squeeze in some exercise as well.
Until next time, I wish you the very best.
Live as well as possible for as long as possible.
