Hi {contactfield=firstname},
From My Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
I hope you’ve had a great week!
It’s been quite a week on my end with lots to report.
My daughter turned 19 and celebrated her birthday in Europe, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Meanwhile, my son is back to eating regular food and is feeling much better after competing in his bodybuilding competition.
I think he can now check that box as an accomplishment and may not look back.
Chelle and I had an unusually quiet weekend—likely a sign of how busy we’ve been at the OsteoStrong center—which gave us a chance to rest and recharge.
We even made it to Dunch two weeks in a row!
While I don’t think it will become a regular occurrence, it’s been a lovely way to spend our time.
We enjoyed beautiful weather and great food down by the docks in Hobart on both occasions.
The Healthy Heart Network is nearly finished with the pilot we’ve been running with St. Luke’s Health for cardiac CT or calcium scoring, which is very exciting. Preliminary data suggests we’ve made a significant impact on a large number of people..... once the pilot is complete we will drill down on the numbers.
Also related to St. Luke’s Health, Chelle and I presented at the Hobart Wellness Center on the 21st in recognition of World Osteoporosis Day. It was a fantastic event with an excellent turnout and lots of engagement. It was a pleasure to share, and lovely to meet everyone who attended to learn more about bone health.
I’m just about to jump on a webinar that I’ll be giving for AUSactive. I’ve been looking forward to this for a couple of months now. AUSactive reached out and asked if I would share with their organization, which serves nearly 20,000 fitness professionals, trainers, and instructors, who together reach almost 7 million Australians annually.
Which reminds me check out "What's My Risk of Heart Attack" - Free Mini Class https://healthyheartnetwork.com/page/hhnminiclass
I’ll be talking about the Virtual Heart Check and the role it can play for fitness industry professionals in raising awareness about calcium scoring for their clients.
You can check out the Virtual Heart Check at https://virtualheartcheck.com.au
As far as I know, it’s the only service of its kind in Australia, allowing people to access a calcium scan without needing to see a GP or specialist first.
I’ve also got a couple of interesting podcasts in the pipeline, covering bone health and heart health. In one of my more recent episodes, I dive into the potential interactions between cholesterol-lowering medications and fat-soluble vitamins—specifically vitamin K2.
Feel free to check it out if that interests you!
But for now, I’m off to get ready for my webinar.
I wish you the very best and hope you live as well as possible for as long as possible.
Take care, and bye for now!
Warm regards,
