Hi {contactfield=firstname},

From My Desk...

Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.

I hope you’re well.

First of all, I’d like to thank everyone who offered feedback on previous weekly emails. It’s encouraging to see such engagement and interest.

This is a big week for the Healthy Heart Network. We’ve now completed our 100-person pilot with St. Luke’s Health for calcium scoring.

We’re currently diving into the data to assess how this can benefit St. Luke’s Health members and, more broadly, what we can learn from it.

Early results suggest that over 20%—possibly even as high as 30%—of participants were identified as high-risk by the scan, despite previously having no indication of an increased cardiovascular risk.

I’m currently in Brisbane for the Queensland Lipid Group’s annual meeting. Dr. Karam Kostner is one of the organizers, and it promises to be an excellent program.

Chelle has joined me here, allowing us to spend some time together between conference sessions. It's so hot here compared to Hobart in Spring.

I’m also looking forward to catching up with Karam as we continue working on our new book, which is tentatively titled "Cholesterol Explained". There’s still plenty of work to do, but it’s definitely coming together.....keep an eye out as we will be doing our best to decontruct the myths and misbeliefs.

On a personal family note, Max has been busy with exams and applying for scholarships through DFAT, while Ella has returned to Australia after her European adventure.

This week, I had the opportunity to record two podcast interviews

The first was with Candice Groves, founder and CEO of Best Cellf PEMF Mats, based in Burleigh Heads, Queensland. This podcast, which will be released in two parts, delves into the remarkable effects of electromagnetic field therapy on cellular function. I find the potential benefits of this therapy for individuals incredibly fascinating. It was a pleasure to speak with Candice who clearly cares about helping others, so I encourage you to keep an eye out for this one.

I also interviewed Dr. Fiona Foo, an interventional cardiologist based in Sydney with a focus on women’s cardiovascular health. This is the second time I've had the chance to share with Dr Foo. We discussed important issues regarding women’s health, particularly around female specific vascular risk factors and a condition where patients experience symptoms that mimic coronary artery disease, yet no large artery blockages are found upon investigation. This condition is referred to as "Angina with Non-Obstructive Coronary Arteries (ANOCA)" or "Myocardial Ischemia with Non-Obstructive Coronary Arteries (MINOCA)".

Keep an eye out for these upcoming podcasts—I’m sure you’ll find them both insightful and fascinating.

Until next week, wishing you all the best for a healthy, fulfilling life.

I hope you live as well as possible for as long as possible.

Take care, and goodbye for now.

Take care, and bye for now!

Warm regards,

P.S. Don't forget to check out my latest books HERE
