Hi {contactfield=firstname},

From My Desk...

Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network and our new Healthy Life Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.

Hello & Welcome!

It’s been an eventful week — a mix of surprises, exciting plans, family updates, and some fantastic conversations I can’t wait for you to hear.

🩺 From My Desk – Conversations That Matter

This week I recorded a truly insightful upcoming podcast with Dr Sara Tariq — we explored how bias creeps into medical care, and why emotional intelligence and strong doctor–patient relationships are critical for managing chronic disease. Keep an eye out — I think this one will get people talking.

🚪 Unexpected Drama at OsteoStrong

We had an unusual moment at the centre when someone accidentally reversed into our front doors! No injuries, but it certainly made for a memorable day. Here’s the photo if you’d like to see the before repairs moment: See it here.

🏗 Longevity Lab Hobart – Our New Venture

Chelle , James, Moonmoon and I have officially signed the lease for the upstairs space above OsteoStrong and registered the business as Vitality Space, trading as Longevity Lab Hobart.

Our new offerings will include:

  • VO₂Max testing and training

  • Flexibility training

  • Muscle hypertrophy programs

  • Breathwork & meditation

  • Sauna & cold plunge

  • IV therapy for vitamins, minerals, and supplements

We’d love to know what you think about both the name and the services — just hit reply and tell us!

👨‍👩‍👧 Family & Personal Highlights

  • Max is doing well in Samoa despite a few motorbike troubles.

  • Ella heads to Chile in just over a week — her partner Tallam flies out tomorrow so they’ll meet up there. They both joined us for a lovely dinner on Friday night.

  • Sean has applied for the admin role we’re filling at the business — we’ve had several strong applicants, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out....his team, the Demons appear to have their own "demons"

  • Chelle and I are both well, keeping the wheels turning with OsteoStrong and our new upstairs project.

🎙 Podcast Highlights

  • This Week: A fascinating discussion with Dr Fiona Foo on “Stiff Old Hearts” — what happens as our hearts age, and what we can do about it. Fiona is an outstanding guest and I know you’ll find this one valuable. Listen or watch here

  • Don’t Miss: The “Lucky Man” story with Chris Henry — a powerful reminder that getting a heart scan could save a life. Listen here for Lucky Man

📚 Cholesterol Explained – Almost There

Progress has been slow this past week with Penny away visiting family, but we’ve had some valuable feedback and are very close to the finish line. We really want this book to be right.

Your input matters — are there any specific questions or points you’d like to see covered in the book? Now’s the perfect time to let me know....hit the button and tell me please.....

Quiz Corner

Last week’s answer: PSA testing is used to help detect prostate cancer early.
This week’s question: Which common eye disease is the Fred Hollows Foundation best known for preventing and treating? (Hint: I’ve just set up a monthly donation to support their work.)
