Hi {contactfield=firstname},

From My Desk...

Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network and our new Healthy Life Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.

This week comes to you from Budapest, where Chelle and I are enjoying a few days of exploring before we jump aboard our river cruise to Amsterdam. It’s been a long journey — over 20 hours of travel — and while my ankles weren’t thrilled with the sitting time, the excitement of being here is undeniable.

We took some time to unwind at the famous Rudas Baths, a centuries-old Turkish spa nestled beneath the Buda hills. The mineral-rich thermal pools, domed ceilings, and traditional architecture created the perfect recovery setting — a much-needed pause before we set sail.

🎙 This Week’s Podcast: Inflammation, CAC & Metabolic Dysfunction

In this episode, I explore how chronic inflammation, coronary artery calcium (CAC), and metabolic health converge — and why this combination is critical for understanding heart risk beyond traditional cholesterol numbers.

👉 Listen to the episode — it’s an important one.

📘 Cholesterol Explained – Nearly There

The final tweaks are done, and while we’d hoped to launch the book at the World Congress of Clinical Lipidology, timing has pushed us toward a new goal — a formal launch at the Cardiac Society meeting in Brisbane this August.

Sometimes great things need a little more runway — and this one’s almost ready for takeoff.

🧬 Expanding Our Wellness Vision

Back in Hobart, momentum is building. We’re moving ahead with plans to expand into the space above OsteoStrong, shaping a new wellness hub that brings together:

  • VO2 max testing

  • Hot and cold therapy

  • Guided breathwork and meditation

  • Intravenous nutrient therapy

James and Moonmoon are taking the reins on much of this — bringing not just ideas but implementation power. It’s inspiring to watch it unfold.

👨‍👩‍👧 Family Update

  • Ella continues to juggle uni and part-time work beautifully.

  • Max has officially resigned from his groundskeeping job and is now fully focused on his role as a support worker — a great fit for his temperament and heart.

  • Sean is recovering well after a recent illness — building strength day by day.

🎁 Heart Health Mini Course — Final Week

This is your last chance to access my Heart Health Mini Course + free interactive eBook. I was surprised by the slow uptake — so I’m offering it one final time before it’s archived.

This is a powerful way to understand your risk and take control — please don’t miss out.

🧠 Quiz Corner

Last Week’s Question:
What’s the optimal LDL-C target for very high-risk cardiovascular patients, according to ESC guidelines?
Answer: Less than 1.4 mmol/L (plus a ≥50% reduction from baseline)

This Week’s Question:
Which of the following does not reduce Lp(a) levels?

A) PCSK9 inhibitors
B) Estrogen
C) Niacin
D) Statins

👉 Hit reply with your answer — I’ll share the correct response next week.

We’ll check in again soon — maybe from the deck of a boat floating down the Danube. Until then, wishing you strength, calm, and good health.
