Hi {contactfield=firstname},
From My Dr Warrick's Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
When John first suggested I should do a weekly email, I thought to myself, "This is going to be hard work—what will I talk about?"
Turns out, my concerns were completely unfounded.
This past week has been incredible in so many ways.
My son competed in his bodybuilding competition, placing second in Victoria in the first-time division. This is a great outcome, especially considering he's been writing grant applications, working to support himself, and keeping up with a demanding university curriculum.
My daughter continues her travels through Europe. This week, she spent most of her time in Italy. It was amazing to FaceTime with her while she was in Venice, heading to Carrera. Like any parent, I hope she stays safe but also enjoys some fantastic travel experiences.
Chelle and I have been working hard on our OsteoStrong business. I’ve been reaching out to local clubs and, just today, emailed several bowls clubs across Southern Tasmania to organize more connections.
Today, I also prepared for an interview with the *Art to Aging* program in Canada. I spoke with Chris Henry, the creator of the podcast and resource center, about statins—an incredibly timely conversation. Earlier this week, I had a patient who, after having a stent placed three years ago, stopped taking his statins a year later. His cardiologist was frustrated and struggling to manage his lipid profile, largely due to the patient’s firm beliefs about the downsides of statin therapy. I had a great consultation with him, offering him a lot to consider, and I look forward to meeting with him again soon to make the best possible long-term plan.
For those interested, it’s been freezing cold here in Hobart over the past week, feeling like winter with even a dusting of snow on the mountain. However, today, despite starting at a chilly 4°C, it’s turned into a beautiful sunny day. Chelle is off to race in the twilight sailing series.
If you missed it, here’s a link to my most recent podcast.
I continue to receive positive feedback on my new book, *10 Commandments of Health Explained*. You can check it out HERE if you’re interested.
Until next time, I wish you the very best and hope you live as well as possible for as long as possible.
Warmest Regards
