Hi {contactfield=firstname},
From My Desk...
Each week, I’ll be sharing a little about what’s happening in my world—whether it’s in my role as a cardiologist, the work I’m doing with the Healthy Heart Network and our new Healthy Life Network, or even personal updates from my family and life. My goal is to give you a closer look at what’s been keeping me busy, while also sharing tips and insights to help you on your own heart health journey. I hope you enjoy these updates and find them helpful as you strive to live well and stay healthy.
It’s been a busy and exciting week, bookended by Easter and ANZAC Day.
(Just a reminder — these weekly updates often reflect events from about a week ago due to timing and logistics.)
Highlights from This Week
📚 Final Touches on the Book
After many months of work, we are now right at the finish line!
My son Max has offered some valuable editorial input, and I’ve been fortunate to have Associate Professors Christian Hamilton-Craig and David Colhoun — both friends and esteemed colleagues — contribute as well.
Today, I have a Zoom call with Dr. Karam, who is currently in Austria, to finalise the last components after many back-and-forth emails.
🖇️ Office Chaos (for now!)
This week, my desk and filing cabinets finally arrived from our previous home.
I’ve started the process of setting up my new office — at the moment it’s a bit of a mess, but I’m confident it will soon come together into a more organised and inspiring workspace.
🩺 Blood Pressure Challenge in Progress
I’ve been working intensely over the weekend on a 14-Day Blood Pressure Challenge for the Younger Longer platform with Guy Leech.
It involves creating a series of 90-second videos and accompanying 3-minute podcasts — aiming to educate and inspire healthy change in manageable daily steps.
💊 Exciting Supplement Developments
Alongside that, I’ve been collaborating with Paul Wigger from Fat Burners Only to refine the perfect supplement offering for the Younger Longer Heart Health program — and likely extending into brain health and bone health too.
It's an exciting area, and I’m really looking forward to sharing more soon!
🧬 Spotlight on C15: An Essential Fatty Acid
If you haven’t looked into it yet, C15 is emerging as a potentially crucial essential fatty acid, with fascinating research origins — including studies on Navy dolphins!

🍜 A Few Local Adventures
Chelle and I managed a night out to a local Chinese restaurant on Friday — nice, though probably not a regular on the list!
We also made it to the State Cinema in North Hobart, enjoying a glass of wine while watching The Accountant 2.
It had a bit of violence but, overall, delivered exactly what you’d expect from that genre.
Family Highlights
Earlier in the week, we caught up with Sean, Chelle’s son, who was unwell and unfortunately couldn't make our Easter Friday gathering. It was lovely to connect properly once he was feeling better.
Later in the week, we had a pleasant drop-in visit from Ella, who stayed on for dinner — always a wonderful bonus to the evening. She remains busy with Uni and partime jobs.
Meanwhile, Max has been up in Far North Queensland, heading off on his first free diving spearfishing trip. He had an amazing time and is now looking for work and more fishing before resuming his studies later in the year.
🎙️ Looking Ahead
Earlier this week, I had some fun with a local ABC Morning Radio segment discussing cholesterol and its real-world impacts.
From May 1st, it’s Osteoporosis Awareness Month in Australia — a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and support through our work at OsteoStrong Hobart.
